To qualify for a rebate, newly installed central air conditioner, central heat pump, or ductless mini split system efficiency ratings must meet minimum requirements as specified on the HVAC Requirement Chart. To find eligible equipment visit AHRI Directory.

 What information do I need?

Required Documents – Missing information will delay processing.

  • Copy of your AHRI certificate or AHRI certificate number.
  • Photos of existing system (Early Replacement only)
  • Permit information must be provided (City of San Antonio only)
  • Copy of your invoice (itemized cost breakdown) from a licensed contractor including:
    • Outdoor and indoor model and serial number of newly installed system.
    • Installation date.
    • Installation address.
    • Total cost paid.

    Can I qualify for Early Replacement Rebate?

    To qualify for Early Replacement, the following criteria MUST be met.

    • Existing equipment MUST be operational.
    • All existing equipment MUST be less than 25 years for Central Systems and less than 20 years for Heat Pump systems.
    • Photos & existing system model & serial numbers MUST be provided (condenser, coil, and furnace)
    • If any information is not provided, the Rebate will be processed as a Replace on Burnout.

NEITHER SPONSOR, CLEARESULT, NOR ACCOUNT HOLDER SHALL BE LIABLE TO EACH OTHER FOR ANY INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, INDIRECT OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES RELATED TO THIS AGREEMENT. Documentation

Applications must be signed by account holder. Missing documentation/ information will delay processing. Contractor’s invoice/purchase receipt must be provided and show model number and serial numbers for all newly installed equipment. For Central Air, this includes condenser, coil, and furnace. To qualify for an early replacement rebate, photos and replaced equipment information is mandatory. Replaced equipment MUST be less than 25 years old for Central System or less than 20 years old for Heat Pump system to qualify for early replacement. If any information is not provided, the system is 25 years or older, and/or not operational then rebate will be processed as a replacement on burnout rebate. For insulation rebates, invoice must include square footage of work area, total cost and existing and new insulation levels. For pool pump rebates, the invoice must show the model number and serial number of all equipment installed along with cost of equipment and installation.

Terms & Conditions 

1. Eligibility The rebate project must be completed for a CPS Energy account holder within the CPS Energy service area. The rebate amount will not exceed the cost of the project. This rebate does not qualify for new homes. (Please see our rebates available for New Home Construction.)

2. Access Account holder agrees to allow the program implementer to access its facilities, energy use and cost information for the purposes of implementing this Agreement. If Account holder is a tenant, Account holder represents that by signing this document they have obtained the property owner’s permission to install energy efficiency measures under this Agreement.

3. Project Timeline Applications and supporting documents must be filed within 30 days of the completion of the work. The project must be completed between February 1, 2024 - January 31, 2025.

4. Permitting To qualify for the rebate, all HVAC equipment must be installed by an HVAC contractor licensed in the State of Texas. Installers shall secure and pay for all permits, governmental fees, and licenses necessary for proper completion of the Project. Upon request, the installer shall provide CPS Energy with a copy of the electrical permit or the green tag inspection.

5. Program Discretion Rebates are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Rebate amounts and offerings are subject to change or termination without notice at the discretion of CPS Energy. THIS PROGRAM IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE OR CANCELLATION WITHOUT NOTICE. The rebate amount will not exceed the total cost of the project.

6. Assignment Account holder shall not assign its rights or obligations under the rebate application or these Terms and Conditions, or any part thereof, without the prior written consent of CPS Energy. Further, account holder shall not assign, by power of attorney or otherwise, any of the money payable under the rebate application or these Terms and Conditions without the prior written consent of CPS Energy. If account holder does not obtain CPS Energy's prior written consent, any purported assignment or delegation shall be null and void. These Terms and Conditions shall bind and inure to the account holder's permitted successor or assignee.

7. Payment In order to qualify for rebates, all HVAC equipment must be installed by a HVAC contractor licensed within the State of Texas. Once completed paperwork is submitted, rebate payments are made within 8-12 weeks. All rebate checks are payable to the account holder named on the utility bill (unless payment release authorization request has been made). If the payment is to be made payable to the installing contractor, the rebate discount must be shown as a credit on the account holder invoice. CPS Energy reserves the right to refuse payment and participation if the account holder or contractor violates these program terms and conditions. Incomplete applications will either delay payments or result in denial of application approval.

8. Inspection and Verification Applications are subject to verification. If the verification cannot be completed, the rebate will not be paid. All applications are subject to an inspection by CPS Energy or its designated agent. CPS Energy reserves the right to reject the rebate amount requested if the product installed was not done in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

9. Miscellaneous This Agreement shall be governed by and construed under the laws of the State of Texas, without regard to conflict of law rules. The failure of either party to enforce strict performance by the other of any provision of this Agreement, or to exercise any right available to the party under this Agreement, shall not be construed as a waiver of such party’s right to enforce strict performance in the same or any other instance. The parties acknowledge and agree that the program implementer is an intended third-party beneficiary under this Agreement.
